about

This song pushes through the side-door. It was meant as a b-side but hypnotised it's way into the foreground and sounds like a kind of grown-up lullaby. The electric guitar was recorded the first time we ever jammed it in the flat and has that feeling of being played for the first time. Co-written with Scott on the bass, I guess it's actually a duet between the bass and the guitar/vocal.

lyrics

The Long Way Home

It's not your problem, it's not your fault
My memory's one-sided, and sometimes I miss the joke
But I wish that I didn't have all of these pains,
wish that I didn't have all of these pains, oh

You go your way, and I will go mine
That's the way life will be.

Take it or leave it, cos you can't do both
When you are divided, well sometimes you miss the boat
But I wish that I didn't have all of these pains,
wish that I didn't have all of these pains, oh

You go your way, and I will go mine
That's the way life will be.

We're taking the long way home,
taking the long way home
We're taking the long way home,
taking the long way home
We're taking the long way home,
taking the long way home
